Text Links

|
It's always a good idea to include text links for those using disability software (usability), surfing with images off, or new to the Internet. Make text links short and to-the-point. If you want to add visual interest, try loading text links into table cells with a contrasting background color.

Examples (Note, the links in the examples below do not work, as they are just examples):

You cannot control how visitors travel through your Website. They may come in through your home page, but they may also just find a link to some other page on your site and come in through that page.

That's why it's so important to have at least a link back to the home page on every page at your site - especially if you use frames. When using frames, I'd suggest putting text links within the frame that has your main content. That way, if somehow just the content frame gets linked to, your visitors can still navigate around your site.

A table of contents or site map is good insurance against frustrated visitors making a hasty exit. Even with the best planned navigation, a visitor may become confused. This is especially true on large sites with multiple levels of sub-category topics. Browsing through a text-based table of contents can provide instant frustration reduction.
